Essential Question:
How does your culture contribute to who you are as and individual and how does each individual shape the HTHI community?
Requirements:
There were several requirements we had in order to complete this project. One being reading The House On Mango Street and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian in order to understand how culture contributed to the main characters lives. On the other hand, we were also given several prompts to write poems and journals. Along with the writing pieces we also had to do three collages for three poems and journals. For our last requirement we were put into groups that would determine what San Diego community we would be researching. I was put into the Point Loma group. My group was responsible to find out interesting things about Point Loma such as its history, events/festivals, landmarks, etc. Our research would then help us find photos to start building several drafts of our collages. Once finished, we were able to put our final collage on a wooden building that was a replica of a San Diego skyline building.
