Exhibition
Here are a couple of pictures that display how our exhibition turned out! There were a lot of people who came by and were really interested to learn who the presidential candidates really were.
Self-Reflection
In the end of the project, I personally felt like I was more educated in politics. Although we studied just a small part, our exhibition and town hall debate turned out great! Lots of people came by and I felt like confident enough to tell them the stance on each of the candidates. So what does it mean to be an educated voter? Well to me it means that I should do my research beyond what the media says about certain candidates or what the candidates themselves claim. That I should also form my own opinions based on my research and that it's okay not to agree with others because that is what politics is. On the other hand, the majority of this project revolved around doing lots of research. And at times that became a challenging part of this project. Because I was part of the Gary Johnson campaign team, not many news sources covered him and his website didn't provide much. But I overcame this challenge by asking for help from my campaign team and seeing how they did their research. All things considered, we now know who our president will be for the next four years, Donald Trump. I can't say I was very happy with this result. I don't see how people could have voted for a man who has no experience in politics and has threatened minorities on several occasions. I am a sixteen year old Mexican girl, I should not have to fear for what could happen to my family. I should not have to fear that with a president with such extreme views, he will appoint justices who will make decisions about my own body. Yes the next four years seem a bit scary, but that will not stop me from voicing what I believe is right. My hope is that for the next presidential election people will go out and vote because it can make a huge difference. The only way to achieve this is by educating people on who the candidates are and really encourage them to do research beyond what the news says.
