Rocket Writeup:
From building the the past two rockets I’ve learned that the design is really important. More specifically, from the paper rocket I learned that the weight on our rocket really affected it. For the bottle rocket, I learned that we needed to find a way to keep the air inside the bottle so it’d be able to launch. Of course I did experience failure because the bottle rocket didn’t launch. What really worked from our previous rocket was the smaller water bottle we attached to the 2L bottle to put our egg inside, so I really want to try and incorporate that again in our new rocket. Based from our previous launches some of the new features we’ll add to this rocket, are three fins instead of four fins. We think this will help the rocket accelerate more.
I haven’t done a lot of research, but based on the bottle rockets that have launched I’ve noticed that they only filled the rocket halfway with water. A couple things I have observed that we should really include on our features are, obviously making the nose cone shaped like a cone and making the fins not so big so when we glue them on to the bottle we put them at a certain distance apart so they aren’t so close together. Last, in order to make our egg land safely I was thinking of putting it in some kind of bottle or can, then attaching that bottle/can to the 3L bottle and filling it with paper towels or something soft to prevent the egg from moving and cracking.
